5 Ways to Make Some Extra Cash

5 Ways to Make Some Extra Cash

No matter how much money you have, more is always better, right? Here are some of the ways in which you can make your wallet just a little bit fatter.

1. Teach something

Have you ever heard the saying that there is something every single person can teach you? So why don’t you do that too? You can tutor or coach people in something you are good at, and make a few bucks!
Maybe you are really good at Math, or you can play the guitar, or you know how to use specific software. Market your skills online, set aside a few hours a week, and you can get yourself a relatively steady side income!
2. Turn your hobby into freelance work
Maldives is teeming with talented people - photographers, artists, musicians, bakers, makeup artists... The list goes on. If you are one of them, and you are highly skilled at something, you could make a portfolio and book some jobs. Simply upload your past work onto a Facebook and Instagram page and share them with your friends.
There are always weddings, birthday parties, and different events that your skills would be needed at. But people want to see your work before they book you. So get started on that portfolio, tell everyone you know, and who knows? Maybe your hobby could even turn into a full time job.
3. Sell your clutter
Do like Marie Kondo, and get rid of things you have that just ‘don’t spark joy’ anymore. This may include clothes you don’t wear, books you won’t reread, or things you or your family have outgrown. What's great is that this is also a lot more environmentally friendly.

You can list your items on ibay or a Facebook group and make some cash while you declutter. Just take good pictures, write a good description, and ask for a reasonable price.

4. Cash in on your space

Everyone knows that rent in Male’ is extremely high – too many people, too little space, right? So if you have some extra space, you could easily make some money by just renting it out. You could rent out a spare room you have to someone long term, or you could AirBnB it out to tourists. Just make sure that your pictures are nice, you look after your place well, and that if it is not your own house you check with the landlord first. Also, make sure you take all safety precautions.

5. Keep your money in a high-interest savings account

This is probably the easiest way to make some extra money. It may not seem like much at the beginning, but compound interest is a powerful thing. The sooner you start, the more you'll make. So consider making the change as soon as possible.
