The 7 Best Things to Spend Your Money On

The whole reason you make money is so that you have enough to spend on the things you need and want. But there are good and bad ways you can spend your money. Here are some of the best things you can spend your money on.

1. Health - since this pretty much comes under survival, this is obvious. Spending on maintaining or improving your health, is an investment in yourself. This means the money you spend on any medical procedures, vaccines, medicine, a healthy diet, and even the gym if that is how you can exercise best.

2. Education - by spending on your education you hope to get qualified and make back the money you spent on it (and more!). Education is also an investment in yourself and that is why this is one of the best uses of your money. While education in itself is important and helps us grow as people, most of us need this to lead to a profitable career. So make sure you explore your future career prospects when you choose a field for your higher studies. You want one that will be hiring when you are done studying. Art history, for example, is a very specific field, and there probably aren't many jobs in that area, especially in Maldives.

3. Pension Contributions - this is the money you set aside for your future self - from when you retire (usually at 65 years old) onward. It is important to plan for the future, and it is always a good idea to make sure you have the ability to support yourself. As the life expectancy of people rise, we must try to increase our pension contributions as well.

4. Insurance - this is a safeguard for any issues you may face. Insurance here means any insurance - health, life, house, travel. By getting insurance you reduce the financial impact of any shocks you may face.

5. Investment - by investing, you are trying to make your money grow. You can invest money in multiple ways - you can get a fixed deposit, invest in mutual funds, or buy shares in a company for example.

6. Entrepreneurship - spending money on your own business is a chance you take on yourself. Make sure you create a business proposal, research your market, do a financial analysis and forecast profits before you start. By doing the proper work before you start, you force yourself to think it through properly and determine whether the business is a good idea. But even if you are very sure it will be successful, it is not advisable to spend all your money on a business just in case it fails. There are things that can affect your business's success that are out of your control as well, and you do not want to end up in debt or unable to cover personal expenses because of this.

7. Charity -  if you have the means to, giving to charity is a way of doing your part in society. It is also a good way to detach yourself from money to an extent, and remember that there are things in life that are more important than financial gain.
